Abstract : Atomix System Ltd (ASL) is a private software development company of Bangladesh whose main is motto to make Asia a truly global player in the information technology (IT) and IT enabled service (ITES) industry. Armed with a sophisticated organizational culture and skilled human resources, ASL provides innovative computing services, software and solutions based on a wide range of platforms and technologies, including software development, software testing, IT consulting and game development. In just two years of its existence, ASL has completed many successful projects and participated in outsourcing actively. However, the lack of proper infrastructure, absence of government support and fierce competition from the major players of the software industry are key challenges that ASL faces from strategic and competitive perspectives. These factors are also critical for the growth of the highly diversified industry in Bangladesh and are of particular concern to the development of not only infant industries of the country, but also to a large extent the country's infrastructure. This case study therefore focuses on the holistic overview of the IT and ITES industry of Bangladesh followed by a critical review on the evolution, challenges and opportunities for ASL. Understanding the key challenges from micro and macro perspective, and thereby providing strategic roadmap to ASL for sustainable growth and juxtaposing the direction aligned with industry trend would be the key contributions of this case study.
