Title : Agriculture and Fertilizer Production in Bangladesh: An Analysis of their Interrelationships
Authors : Md. Sharif Hossain, and Md. Kamal Uddin
Abstract : Still now, the agricultural production bears the significant role for economic development in Bangladesh. But, the agricultural production largely depends on some macroeconomic variables; specially depends on the production of fertilizers. That is why, in this paper the principal purpose has been made for an empirical investigation to find whether the production of fertilizers causes the agricultural development or not in Bangladesh. Before doing this in this paper another purpose has been made to investigate the existence of the long-run consequence in the series of agricultural production and production of fertilizers by using modern econometric techniques. Specially here I used the unit root tests to know the existence of non-stationarity in the series of agricultural production, and production of fertilizers and the co-integrated tests is applied to know that they share the same stochastic trend or not. In this paper, the Granger causality test is applied to clarify the causal relationship between the agricultural production and production of fertilizers. I have also examined the statistical association between the agricultural production and production of fertilizers by using regression analysis.
