Title : TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE: THE MEDIATING EFFECT OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

Abstract : The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance. It also examines the mediating effect of employee engagement in relationship of these variables. Theoretically, leadership is a key antecedent of employee performance and employee engagement, yet there is no research in the context of Bangladesh directly linking leadership behaviors, employee performance, and follower engagement. This study was conducted with 200 employees working in a variety of jobs in SMEs of Bangladesh. The findings of this study indicate that transformational leadership behaviors are positively associated with employee performance. The results confirm the mediation of employee engagement as well.
