Abstract : Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the cholinergic dependent memory improvement by using salvia officinalis in aged mice. Background: The ageing population is a growing concern of the world and considered as prior social burden. At present the aged in Bangladesh is 8% of its total population and expected to be 21% by 2050. Studies suggested that the incidence of neurological disorders increased exponentially in aged population. The cholinergic dysfunction in hippocampus has been seen in aged rodents, drugs which can increase acetylcholine level in the brain are promising to adjust with the loss of cholinergic function. Since the most effective treatment strategies for adjusting the level of acetylcholine in brain is the inhibition of acetylcholine esterase enzyme (AChE), which hydrolyses the acetylcholine in the synapse. Study showed that Salvia officinalis has AChE inhibitory properties because of containing the Rosmarinic acid, therefore it will be worthwhile to investigate the effects of this herb on cholinergic deficit aged mice Method: 20 swiss albino mice (10 month old) were divided into 2 groups: Group 1; Aged Treatment group (n =10) and Group 2; Aged control group (n =10). Ethanolic extract of Salvia offcinalis was given orally for 1 month to the group 1. Mice were assessed and compared by using hippocampal dependent behavioral batteries including novel object recognition (NOR) and contextual fear conditioning (CFC). Paired t-test and ANOVA were used for assessing the significance level between the groups. SOD, APOP, GSH, NO & MDA level from hippocampus and cortex were analyzed by using bioassay. Result: Compared to group 2, group 1 mice showed significant level of memory improvement (P
