| Impact statement: This community-based study reveals that only 29.7% of lactating mothers in rural northern Bangladesh meet the Minimum Dietary Diversity (MDD), indicating a high vulnerability to micronutrient deficiencies. The research establishes that higher family income and a husband's education beyond 10 years are the strongest predictors of nutritional adequacy, while mothers aged 20–49 and those whose husbands are day laborers are significantly less likely to consume a diverse diet. By demonstrating that 94.7% of diets are cereal-heavy and frequently lack milk, eggs, and green leafy vegetables, the study provides a vital mandate for implementing homestead gardening and nutrition-sensitive education programs to protect the long-term health and cognitive development of families in rural Bangladesh. | Collaboration: Partner University | Keywords: Dietary diversity score, Minimum dietary diversity, Lactating mothers, Nutrition, Rural northern region |
