| Impact statement: This cross-sectional study identifies a significant prevalence of new STI cases (57.3%) among street, hotel, and residence-based female sex workers (FSWs) in Dhaka. While vaginal discharge (56.8%) was the most common symptom, hotel-based FSWs were found to have the highest number of new cases. The research identifies drug dependency, alcohol intake, and inconsistent condom use (which increases the risk by 3.54 times) as critical predictors of infection. These findings serve as a vital call for policymakers to integrate health literacy interventions and community-based empowerment strategies into urban health services to reduce disease transmission and improve the quality of life for marginalized populations in Bangladesh. | Collaboration: Partner University | Keywords: sexually transmitted infections, sexual health, female sex workers, STI, sexual behavior, healthcare access, developing countr |
