| Impact statement: The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of charcoal as soil amendment on morphological features, biomass production, and root development of Jute plant (Corchorus capsularis L), BJRI Deshi Pat- 10 at roof top garden. Charcoal was applied at the rate of control, 1g, 2g, 3g, 4g, and 5g as the treatments, T0, T1, T2, T3, T4, and T5, respectively. The results show that after 5 weeks of treatment, the highest leaf no, shoot length, shoot dry weight, including root length and root dry weight, were found higher at treatment T3. Charcoal shows the potential to increase the availability of nutrients and stimulate plant performance. From this research, it can be concluded that charcoal alone may be enough for improving growth and biomass development of the jute plant.
