Impact statement: Abdominal migraine (AM) is a unique pediatric neurological challenge characterized by acute central abdominal pain that often lacks a clear biological cause. This case report documents a 12-year-old male with a history of absence seizures who experienced AM symptoms triggered by acute watery diarrhea (AWD) and dehydration. While standard analgesics failed, the administration of valproic acid (VPA) resulted in the complete subsidence of symptoms. These findings provide a vital clinical mandate for healthcare providers to consider migraine-related etiologies in cases of unexplained stomach pain, particularly in children with seizure disorders, to ensure prompt diagnosis and effective therapeutic intervention.
