| Impact statement: This community-based study of 400 rural women identifies that while attitudes (80.25%) and practices (69%) toward food safety are relatively satisfactory, a critical knowledge gap remains, with only 33.75% of respondents possessing "good knowledge". The research establishes that monthly family income above 5,000 BDT is the strongest predictor of safe food handling, while factors such as advanced age (>55 years) and large family sizes (>4 members) are significant impediments to good practice. By demonstrating that simple measures, like washing hands and separate storage, are often understood but inconsistently applied due to economic constraints, the study provides a vital mandate for policymakers to implement community-clinic-based training and social media awareness programs to safeguard rural households from preventable foodborne infections. | Collaboration: None | Keywords: Food safety, rural households, knowledge, attitude, practices (KAP), food handlers, Bangladesh |
