Impact statement: While most children with COVID-19 exhibit mild symptoms, up to 34% of those hospitalised in pediatric intensive care show signs of cardiac malfunction. This protocol establishes a rigorous, systematic framework to identify the prevalence of major cardiovascular outcomes, including heart failure, myocarditis, and thromboembolic events, specifically among children in LMICs. By shedding light on these often-overlooked complications in resource-limited settings, the resulting study will provide a vital evidence-based mandate for medical professionals to better manage severe pediatric cases and assist policymakers in refining clinical judgments for the most vulnerable populations.
