Impact statement: This is one of the first clinical studies in Bangladesh to verify the application of low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (LI-ESWT) for erectile dysfunction, showing that the treatment significantly improves IIEF-5 scores (from a mean of 11.61 to 15.90). The research highlights that LI-ESWT is a safe and effective alternative to traditional oral medications, which often have side effects or high failure rates. By demonstrating that 9.7% of patients with severe ED achieved total resolution of severe symptoms following eight sessions, the study provides a vital evidence-based mandate for the wider adoption of this non-pharmacological modality in Bangladesh to improve male reproductive health and quality of life.
