| Impact statement: This hospital-based study of 279 cancer patients in Dhaka, Bangladesh, reveals a high prevalence of poor health outcomes, with over 82% of participants experiencing low or very low Quality of Life (QoL). The research is one of the first in the region to utilize the PG-SGA tool, finding that 67% of patients suffer from some form of malnutrition. Most importantly, the study establishes a statistically significant link between QoL and both nutritional and performance status, indicating that nutritional status alone has a 7.7% effect on a patient's QoL score. These findings serve as a critical alert for healthcare professionals to integrate systematic nutritional management into treatment protocols to enhance the well-being and clinical outcomes of cancer patients. | Collaboration: Partner University | Keywords: Health sciences, Public health, Psychiatry, Oncology, Clinical research, Quality of Life, Nutrition, Treatment, Performance sta |
