Impact statement: This study reveals that while a vast majority (87.8%) of public health graduate students in Bangladesh intend to pursue a research career, only 33.1% feel confident in conducting research independently. By identifying that prior research training, female gender, and enrollment in public institutions are significant predictors of independent research capacity, the findings provide a critical framework for academic institutions and policymakers to integrate mandatory research methodology courses and enhanced mentorship into graduate curricula to bridge the skill gap and strengthen the nation's public health infrastructure.
