Impact statement: This cross-sectional study of 200 adults in Dhaka provides critical data on the patterns of dyslipidemia in Bangladesh, identifying hyperlipidemia (46%) and atherogenic dyslipidemia (37%) as the most common types. A key finding is that female patients are significantly more susceptible to developing higher BMI and higher fasting blood sugar (FBS) compared to males, placing them at greater risk for metabolic complications. Additionally, the research establishes a significant link between high calorie intake and elevated lipid levels. These results serve as a vital call for Bangladeshi adults, particularly women, to prioritize regular lipid screening and calorie management to reduce the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases in the region.
