Impact statement: This study reveals a concerningly low prevalence (15.6%) of skin-to-skin contact in Bangladesh, identifying that women in the Rajshahi Division and those who deliver via caesarean section are significantly less likely to practice it. By demonstrating that institutional deliveries and completing four or more antenatal visits more than double the odds of SSC practice, the research provides a critical roadmap for the government to implement mandatory healthcare worker training and national awareness campaigns to reach SDG targets for reduced neonatal mortality.
