| Impact statement: This multicenter study highlights a high in-hospital mortality rate of 34.4% among adult tetanus patients in Bangladesh, primarily due to a lack of intensive care and ventilatory support. It identifies age ?40 years and a short onset time (?4 days) as the most critical predictors of death. These findings emphasize the urgent need for specialized care for high-risk patients and suggest that a booster vaccination program targeting adult males in high-risk occupations, such as farming, is essential to reduce the national burden of this preventable disease. | Collaboration: Other | Keywords: Tetanus, in-hospital mortality, Bangladesh, adult patients, risk factors, older age, onset time, rural population, farmers, vac |
