Impact statement: This study identifies a high prevalence of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (22.88%) among medical students in Bangladesh, with hostel residents facing 2.11 times the risk compared to students living at home. By establishing a direct link between dormitory living, high academic stress, and poor dietary habits, the research provides a critical framework for academic institutions to implement targeted stress management and lifestyle interventions to protect the health and educational outcomes of future healthcare professionals.
