Impact statement: This cross-sectional study of 406 doctors reveals that 12.3% of physicians in Bangladeshi tertiary care hospitals were victims of physical violence in the year preceding the survey. The research identifies that younger (under 30), male, and never-married doctors are at the highest risk, particularly those serving in emergency departments and public hospitals. By uncovering that patients' relatives are the primary perpetrators (72%) and that nearly 90% of victims are "very worried" in their current workplace, the study provides a vital evidence-based mandate for policymakers to implement zero-tolerance legislation, bolster patient protocols, and invest in human resources to prevent physician burnout and ensure the continued delivery of essential health services.
