| Impact statement: This study reveals a high mortality rate (40%) among diabetic COVID-19 patients admitted to the ICU in Bangladesh, with the risk of death escalating drastically as the number of comorbidities increases. Specifically, patients with five or more chronic conditions faced a death rate as high as 86%. By identifying acute kidney injury, smoking, anemia, and abnormal D-dimer levels as significant predictors of mortality, the research provides clinicians with a vital framework for early risk assessment and targeted intervention to decrease death risks in high-risk populations. | Collaboration: None | Keywords: COVID-19; Diabetes Mellitus; Mortality; Multimorbidity; ICU; Biomarkers |
