Impact statement: This cross-sectional study of 878 chronic disease patients in Bangladesh reveals significant mental health distress during the COVID-19 pandemic, with 35% suffering from depression, 36% from anxiety, and 29% from stress. By identifying that older age (?60 years), rural residency, lower income, and the recent loss of family members are primary predictors of these symptoms, the research underscores the urgent need for primary care physicians to integrate telemedicine and mental health screenings into routine chronic disease management. These findings provide a vital evidence base for health service providers to develop targeted support programs that protect vulnerable populations from long-term psychological damage during global health crises.
