Impact statement: This epidemiological study involving 200 professional male footballers reveals that 58% of players suffered soft tissue knee injuries during the study period. The research identifies midfielders (35.5%) as the position most susceptible to injury and ligament damage (63.8%) as the most common injury type. A critical finding is the significant association between poor ground conditions and lack of warm-up routines with increased injury risk. These results serve as a vital call for sports clubs and athletic trainers to implement standardised exercise regimens and improve field maintenance to mitigate preventable injuries and ensure the long-term physical well-being of professional athletes.
