Impact statement: This randomised controlled trial demonstrates that implementing the WHO-recommended eight antenatal care (ANC) visits, combined with targeted health education and additional ultrasonography, reduced unnecessary C-sections by 50% among pregnant women in Bangladesh. By identifying that increased clinical contact and knowledge significantly improve the rates of normal vaginal delivery, the research provides a vital evidence-based framework for addressing the global surge in unwarranted surgical births and improving maternal health in low-resource settings.
