| Impact statement: This hospital-based study of 375 road traffic injury (RTI) patients in Dhaka reveals a high burden of trauma, with a mean of 3.7 injuries per patient. The research identifies that males (76%) and young adults aged 20–35 (42.9%) are the most vulnerable groups. While skin and soft tissue injuries are most frequent, head-on collisions and accidents involving motorbikes or motorized three-wheelers result in the highest severity scores. Crucially, the findings show that limited education and delays in reaching a hospital (beyond one hour) are significant predictors of severe injury. These results serve as a critical call for policymakers to implement stricter road safety laws, improve emergency response times, and launch targeted awareness campaigns to reduce the mounting economic and health toll of RTAs in Bangladesh. | Collaboration: Partner University | Keywords: Road traffic injury, Injury pattern, Injury severity, Bangladesh |
