Impact statement: This study identifies critical socio-economic and health-related determinants—such as paternal education, household income, exclusive breastfeeding, and access to safe water—that significantly increase the risk of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) in Bangladeshi children. By highlighting factors like maternal depression and home births without trained assistance, the findings provide a framework for targeted public health interventions and policy planning to reduce child mortality and improve long-term developmental outcomes.
