| Impact statement: This hospital-based case-control study in Dhaka identifies improper lifestyles and poor nutritional habits as the primary drivers of vitamin D deficiency among Bangladeshi children. The research reveals that children who do not play outdoor games or lack sun exposure are significantly more likely to be deficient, with those playing video or mobile games facing over four times the risk. Additionally, dietary factors such as the absence of milk or sea fish and a lack of exclusive breastfeeding were confirmed as key determinants. These findings serve as an urgent call for immediate vitamin D supplementation for infants and the launch of mass awareness programs to promote healthy lifestyles and improve nutritional standards for mothers and children. | Collaboration: Partner University | Keywords: Vitamin D deficiency, children, lifestyle factors, dietary factors, Bangladesh |
